Conservation in Iraq and recovering from Prague flooding: presentation at CHC symposium

Petr Justa, a lecturer at the Czech Republic’s University of Pardubice, presents “Disastrous Floods in Prague Historical Centre and Postwar Conservation Projects in Iraq” at “Disaster,” the 13th Annual Historic Preservation Symposium Feb. 25, 2012. The symposium was hosted by Texas A&M’s Center for Heritage Conservation and the Hazard Reduction & Recovery Center.

Justa’s lecture focused on the effects of 2002 flooding on Prague’s cultural heritage and his recent experience conserving Iraq’s architectural heritage, affected by war and seismic activity. His presentation will note how the country’s climate contributed to deterioration and preservation.
