Collaborative, cumulative: Realising architecture’s disruptive potential – Shajay Booshan

11 January 2018
M.Arch Jury Week Keynote Lectures (Design Research Laboratory)

The lecture will trace a personal account of the last decade of the collaborative and cumulative evolution of computational design and digital fabrication based on Tectonism, considering its roots (in academic programmes such as the AA’s Design Research Laboratory); its current state; and its attempts to recuperate historic knowledge to build a dense network of cross-disciplinary affiliations, leaving it at the cusp of realising its disruptive potential.

Shajay Booshan is an associate at Zaha Hadid Architects where he heads the research activities of the Computation and Design (CoDe) group. He also works as a studio master in the AA DRL. He pursues his research in structure and fabrication-aware architectural geometry as a PhD candidate within the Block Research Group, ETH Zurich.
