Building Stories – The Awards Talks: The King’s School and Brighton College



In this video, special guests Cindy Walters (Walters & Cohen Architects) and Carol Patterson (OMA) share the unique stories behind The King’s School in Canterbury and Brighton College – part of a series celebrating RIBA award-winning buildings.

This is a recording of a livestream event that took place on 14 June 2022.

Each week architects reveal what it takes to design and deliver an inspiring and impactful building, followed by a live interactive Q&A session. The event is hosted by a member of the RIBA’s Awards Group.

The King’s School, Canterbury International College, Walters & Cohen Architects – a simple but highly effective building providing classrooms and communal spaces on the ground floor and accommodation above, this project won a 2021 RIBA National Award and South East Award.

Brighton College, School of Science and Sport, Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) – a bold and ambitious project, this building combines sports and science spaces in a unique fashion, merging both subjects into one linear volume. It won a 2021 RIBA National Award and South East Award.
