Building for 2050 with Tom Dollard (Pollard Thomas Edwards)



As part of RIBA London’s 2019 Sustainable Architecture Festival, Tom Dollard spoke about how to deliver quality in the design of sustainable homes.

What is ‘quality’ in design of sustainable homes? The performance gap between predicted and actual energy use in new homes has been identified as key problem by government and industry experts. This presentation guide to delivering better energy performance in all types of new build homes.

Tom Dollard is Head of Sustainable Design at Pollard Thomas Edwards. He is an architect with wide experience in sustainable design and construction, with a particular specialism in Passivhaus. He is author of the Zero Carbon Hub Builders’ Book and has lead performance gap site reviews since 2013. He is vice-chair of the Zero Carbon Hub Ventilation and Indoor Air Quality research project and continues working with the hub on research to advise government and industry on current housing policy.
