Are we Teaching Kids to Solve Interesting Problems? Seth Godin

What is school for? Why is the school system failing? Is the next generation equipped to solve the biggest problems we face? How has the industrial economy brainwashed us to hold back?

American author Seth Godin explains why our antiquated school system is dooming us to failure.

“If we can write down your job, we can find someone cheaper than you to do it. In fact, the thing we find to do it, might not even be a person.”

The current school system makes compliant drones that seek authority and follow directions – this is at odds with our innovation crazy internet culture. As a result, even the best of us are easily replaced or left behind.

To be successful we need to learn how to lead and solve interesting problems – that’s what schools need to focus on.
