“Architecture can speak in a very subtle way” – LANZA atelier on their 2025 Pavilion | Serpentine

Isabel Abascal and Alessandro Arienzo, co-founders of LANZA atelier, and Serpentine Artistic Director Hans Ulrich Obrist discuss the 2026 Serpentine Pavilion, titled a serpentine.

The architects speak about their wide-ranging practice, from furniture design to large-scale buildings; creating spaces that bind rather than divide; and their discovery of serpentine walls, which allow for playfulness and economy of material. This architectural feature became the central component of their Pavilion, which is also the first to use brick.
