Architecture and the art within: Lorenzo Nassimbeni at TEDxSoweto 2012

Lorenzo Nassimbeni believes that the drawings that architects make should be elevated to the level of artworks. In this TEDxSoweto 2012 Talk, he takes us through a journey of his portfolio of work where this conviction vividly comes to life.

Architecture meets fine art in the work of Lorenzo Nassimbeni. From wallcovering, to fabric and mural design, Nassimbeni’s portfolio is unified by a signature architectural style of drawing: a distillation of black line on white background. His mural designs complement the spaces of Neil Ellis Wines, Stellenbosch and the residence of Zolani Mahola, lead singer of Freshlyground. At the time of the talk, Nassimbeni was also working on a bespoke fabric collection for a furniture range designed by the company ‘WORK’.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.

About TEDx

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
