Announcing the winners of the 5th Annual Architizer A+Awards

New York, United States, 2017-04-11 –

Architizer, the leading online resource for architecture, announces the winners of the 5th Annual Architizer A+Awards.

The A+Awards honor the best architecture, spaces, and products from across the globe. This year’s winners include; the De Maria Pavilion in Bridgehampton, New York by Gluckman Tang; Peter Zumthor’s Zinc Mine Museum in Allmanajuvet, Norway; Salerno Maritime Terminal by Zaha Hadid Architects; IwamotoScott’s Pinterest Headquarters in San Francisco, California; Writers Theatre in Glencoe, Illinois by Studio Gang Architects; and the Ribbon Chapel by Hiroshi Nakamura + NAP. The full list of winners can be found at awards.architizer.com.

This year, the A+Awards received over 5,000 entries from 100+ countries. A jury-selected winner and a popular choice winner were awarded in each of the 102 categories, with popular choice winners determined by more than 400,000 public votes cast from around the world.

In addition to the Jury and Popular Choice winners, six special awards for achievement will be presented at the A+Awards gala on May 11 in New York City, including:

Firm of the Year: David Adjaye (Adjaye Associates)

Lifetime Achievement Award: Odile Decq (Odile Decq Studio)

Impact Award: Tatiana Bilbao (Tatiana Bilbao Estudio)

Advocate Award: Carlo Ratti (Ratti Associati, MIT Senseable City Lab, EU Commission)

Emerging Firm of the Year: Koray Duman (Buro Koray Duman)

Product of the Year: DJI Drone

These special honorees are recognized for their outstanding work and innovation in design, including works such as: The National Museum of African American History and Culture (Adjaye); Confluence Institute for Innovation and Creative Studies (Decq); low-income housing in Acuña, Mexico (Bilbao); The Supermarket of the Future (Ratti); New York’s forthcoming Islamic Cultural Center (Duman); and groundbreaking CAD compatible drone technology (DJI).

Over 400 luminaries from the worlds of architecture, art, and design will gather for the gala at Highline Stages in New York City next month.

“The A+ gala is more than just a party. It represents a moment for us to stand up and champion our art, recognizing the transformational role that architecture plays in our lives,” says Architizer CEO Marc Kushner.

In collaboration with its partners, WSJ. Magazine, the Webby Awards and Phaidon, and with support from its sponsors Dupont Corian, Graphisoft, Kohler, Sunbrella, BEHR Pro and Home Depot, the A+Awards gala has become the most sought after ticket for architecture during NYCxDESIGN week.

Digital agency R/GA will also celebrate the winners and NYCxDESIGN with a special cocktail reception on May 10 at their new office in Hudson Yards.

2017 winners from the Typology and Plus Categories will be featured in A+Architecture: The Best of Architizer 2017, a stunning hardbound book to be published by Phaidon in July 2017.
