An Architect’s Mixed-Use Apartment For His Family of Four

Melbourne-based architect Chris Megowan of Megowan Architectural initially designed his apartment for just his wife and himself, however, that changed when they found out they were having twins. What stayed the same was the desire to live and work in the same building, so his architecture practice’s office sits below his apartment.

This development isn’t like most conventional buildings that stack apartments on top of each other, rather they intersect and have multiple levels individually, creating an almost Tetris-like arrangement. For his own apartment, Chris went with robust and hard-wearing materials for the interior, avoiding having a museum-like home which you’re worried to live in with a family.
