AHEAD Asia awards 2019 judges discuss winning hotels | Interiors | Dezeen



Hotels recognised at this years’ AHEAD Asia awards mix contemporary design with attention to heritage, say the awards programme’s judges in this movie Dezeen produced for AHEAD.

The third AHEAD Asia awards, which took place at Andaz Singapore on March 7, celebrated the best in hotel and resort design across the continent.

Jinou Park, vice president of the Asia Pacific region at Design Hotels and member of the AHEAD Asia judging panel, observed a move towards projects that combine modern architectural and design principles with attention to local culture and history.

“It was really interesting to see design born out of real Asian heritage,” he told Dezeen.

Amanyangyun, a hotel in Shanghai designed by Kerry Hill Architects, was named AHEAD Asia Hotel of the Year, as well as being recognised in the Guestrooms and Hotel Conversion categories.
